November 19, 2004I have an '87 chevy pickup with a stock 350 fuel injected. At times, like when I'm at a stop light it will just stall out but it starts right up. Sometimes the dummy light comes on "check engine" and sometimes it doesn't. AND....when I start it in the morning to let it warm up for a few minutes before taking off in it, the idle will drop down really low and then it will pick itself up. It will do this probably six to eight times before it stalls out BUT some days it could sit there for 10 minutes at a perfect idle. I have had it to numerous techs and they have had it on machines and no one can figure it out. They have had the '87 on machines for an hour where it idles fine and the minute they unhook it to back it out of the garage it stalls out. Can anyone help me out? I've been struggling with this for awhile.

November 19, 2004fuel filter. fuel pump. other than that....dunno.
November 19, 2004Yeah, the fuel filter is new and so is the pump. I've even put in a new computer and done a tune up on it.
Thanks for the reply.......Anymore suggestions would be helpful....keep them coming!
November 22, 20042 things I would do .... 1st change the coolant temperature sensor ... The one for the computer, not the guage/light one .... The other would be to remove the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor and clean the 'pintle' (pointy part), as well as the openings it goes in ..... These 2 things should make a big difference ......
