January 3, 2005Hi, I'm new to this site and hope it can prove very helpful.
I have an old 1976 Dodge D-200 pickup truck (2 wheel drive). My friends and I love to go out and go off-roading, it isn't uncommon for my pickup to go everywhere the 4 wheel drive trucks will, but If I have problems I give it more gas- get some clearence on the trail and go for it... its a replacible play truck in my opinion.
My new problem is that I currently have 30 inch tires on the truck that are going bad fast. I'm looking for a set of aftermarket tires. I've found a set on Ebay that I have purchased and recieved them. They are 36/12.5/16.5, Old military tires on a 2 piece run-flat and beadlock rim. There is a picture of the tires in my photo album, do you think these will grab nicely?
The only problem is my truck only has about 4 inches of clearence around the current 30 inch tires. Thus leading to my question, they never made a suspension lift for this truck being it is 2 wheel drive (If you know a place I'd love to know) so I've looked around and found a 3 inch body lift for this ol' truck.
Would a 3 inch body lift, about 3 inches of fender cutout- has a rib i'll trace (rusted out bellow the rib.) The 3 inch cut would give me 8 inches of clearence (front and back of tire to the fenderwell.), and about 7 inches of clearence (top of tire to the fenderwell.) How much more clearence do you think I might be able to gain with a 3 inch body lift, I would like to know if a set of 36 inch tires would fit in here, please help and if you need pictures of the truck I'll try to get some and post for you.
Thanks for the help anyone can offer,
