February 3, 2005Hope someone can tell me whats going on here. I have a 2000 4x4 frontier sport crew cab v-6 that about every 30 miles of driving, the gauges, all but the fuel gauge and speedometer just drop off. The digital odometer kinda goes haywire and then dissapears. After a few minutes sometimes it all comes back on.If I turn off the truck for a few minutes, It seems fine till about another 30 minutes like something is getting hot. Does anyone no what this problem is and how to fix without taking the truck to a shop? PLEASE help if you can..Thanks

LOL...drive it off the nearest cliff or overpass! Just kiddin'
Not a Nissan guy, so I cant help ya, but it sounds like your computer is going haywire when it gets hot or you have a short.
February 3, 2005Locate and change the speedometer sending unit.
February 3, 2005Locate and change the speedometer sending unit?? Is that a common problem???Thanks..Ron
February 3, 2005Common or not is irrelevant and I don't know the answer to it since my screen name is not 1BadNissanFronteer, it's 1BadF350 and I don't own one. I would take it someplace and have them locate and test it. It's probably a $40 part anyway. That's where I would start and go from there.
Or your speedometer could just be low on oil, have you checked it lately?
February 3, 2005Yes I actually just changed the oil in the speedometer cables and also replaced the ball joints from the fuel gauge and still the problem exhists..Hmmmm go figure..Maybe the air is low in my seats huh???
February 3, 2005You should also check your blinker fluid and your muffler bearings.
Since my name isn't GenNissanLee, I can't help you either...If I owned a Nissan...wait, I wouldn't own a Nissan.
LOL, just take it to a local shop and have them diagnos the problem, then fix it yourself!
