April 22, 2005I built a 396 all new and I put Moroso valve covers on it with the matching breathers that are supposed to keep the oil from coming out but it does and it is leaking out onto my headers. I made baffles for them just like the ones that moroso sells but that still didn't help. I tried doing a compression test to make sure that there wasn't a lot of blowby but it was good. Does anybody have any suggestions?

April 23, 2005You are running a PCV valve, right? and it is working properly, right? Because if not, that's your problem .......
April 24, 2005I am not using a pcv valve because they just us a little breather that mounts on the valve cover
April 25, 2005If your PCV valve was in one of the old covers and you bought the Moroso valve covers new, then the instructions should tell you how and where to cut a hole for the PCV ..... If the covers are "hand me downs" and you don't have instructions, and your PCV valve was in one of the old covers, then look at the underside of the covers. There may be "knockouts" for the PCV on one of them, or pick an area for the PCV, on the valve cover, in the same general area as the old one, determine the thickness of the metal of the cover, buy a PCV grommet from a local parts store, cut a hole in the cover the size of the grommet and there you go ..... Excluding diesels, nearly every vehicle on the road today is equipped with some type of PCV system .... Just breathers alone don't cut it .....
